Last Christmas, Delvyn told me about the fixed gear bike trend that was happening in California.
Looks like it is spreading...
and - IT SOUNDS TOTALLY FREAKING POINTLESS... Let's see - no coasting, and no brakes... ??? Clearly this is an improvement ???
Hopefully Canadians will be sensible enough to pass on this one...

well, i live with a fixed-gear nut who is in love with his fixed-gear bike.
if they like it, they like it. i dunno.
oh, and there are totally brakes, at least on eric's bike, but you can also do the bike equivalent of engine braking by just pedaling slower.
fixies scare me but i'm intrigued, because ya, the peopel who have them love them.
then again, this was referred to as a "trend" in chicago last year, and I think they got not a few accidents out of it. Fixies are for people how can handle them...not wussies like me who just want to look cool.
i agree with lisa, they sure look cool, but dang, what about us wusses?
well think about it this way trent: it's like a way to "fight the system" you dont ever have to pay for breaks or fix anything with gears. its a pretty sweet thing if i do say so myself, and i do say so.
